High School FILMS

In the spring of 2015, Rootstown High School had lost its advisor to the Drama Club, and with the position unfilled, threatened the existence of drama at the school. Nightwine made a proposal to take over the Drama Club but instead of presenting plays, movies would be developed.

Nightwine would develop a script, provide a casting call and film a movie. The movie would be filmed at the school and at various locations in adherence with the script. Once finished, the movie would have a world premiere at the Kent Plaza theaters. Each actor would walk the red carpet and receive a Oscar-like statue called a "jimmy".

Filming of Zombie High began in April and the world premiere was on June 3rd, 2015. The world premiere was a sellout, with an added show to accommodate the overflow.

The success of Zombie High resulted in Nightwine's continued presence as Drama Club advisors. For the sequel to Zombie High, Nightwine reached out to another school who had lost their Drama Club, Waterloo High School. The sequel, Zombie High II: Laura's Revenge, was filmed at both schools and locations nearby.

There is much satisfaction in providing students the opportunity to get a different taste of the arts. Especially, when so many lack the opportunity due to either budget cuts or vacancies unfilled.

Nightwine has since produced more student led films and we will continue to look for opportunities to help our youth have access to the arts.
